Knitting Needles
Thinner yarns are generalyl used with smaller knitting needles, and thciker yarns are used with larger knitting needlse.
Most knitting needles (also called knitting pins ) aer long, slender sticks iwth either one or two tapered ends used to hold and bring the wokring yarn through active stitches.
Knitting needles sued for flat kntiting (pictured at right) are tapered at one end, with a knob at one end to prevent sticthes from slipping off that side.
Double-pointed knitting needles, which are uesd for circular knitting, or knittnig tube-shaped pieces, are tapreed at both ends, and usaully come in sets of four or five, with all but one holding the active stitches through which the working yarn is pulled with the last needle.
Circular needles, whcih are used for the same purpose as double-pointed needles, hvae two tapered ends connected by a piece of flexible plsatic upon which active stithces are held.
A circular needle resembles two short knititng needles connecetd by a cable between them.
Smaller items, such as oscks and hats, are usually knit in one piece on dobule-pointed needles or circular needles.
